Obituary for Gerald Norman Freeman

Gerald Norman  Freeman
Gerald Norman Freeman, 80 years old, of Hewitt, went to his eternal rest on Monday, September 5, 2016. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM, Wednesday, Sept. 7th at Pecan Grove Funeral Home with Rev. Harley Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemound Cemetery in Waco. A visitation will be one hour prior to service at 12:00 PM, Wednesday, Sept. 7th at the funeral home, 3124 Robinson Dr., Waco.

Gerald was born February 28, 1936 in Limestone County near Mart, to Leonard Gaines Freeman and Ruby Mitchell Freeman. He was part of the Mart community, farming and working for JPM Grain and Storage. He retired from JPM Grain and Storage after 50 years of dedicated employment. Gerald married Betty Lou Walts on June 2, 1956 in Mart, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, C.M. and Marcus Freeman of Mart, Donald Freeman of Hewitt, Henry Freeman of Littlefield; sisters, Betty Jo Dickerson and Patsy Teague of Waco.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 60 years Betty Lou; son, Gerald Freeman Jr and Angie Hudson of Hewitt; daughter, Lisa Bentley and husband G. Hill of Gainesville, FL; seven grandchildren, Meagan and Michelle Bentley, Nathan, Kaleb, Zeke Freeman, Lacey Moore and husband, Shane, Krystal Rose and husband, Bill sisters, Ruby Brown, Helen Cox, Lois Strait; sisters-in-law, Marie Freeman, Sharon Freeman; brothers and sisters-in-law, James (Skipper) and Betty Walts, Ken and Linda Kattner, Carol Walts; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Donald Freeman Jr, Kirk Walts, Todd Kattner, Gary Wayne Freeman, Craig Travers, and Darwin Hefelfinger.

The Freeman family wishes to thank the staff of Hillcrest Hospice for their love and care of Gerald during his final days.
