Obituary for Sidney Henson

Sidney Henson
*** Corrected donation/memorial information at bottom of obituary for Primrose Baptist Church****

Morris Sidney (Sid) Henson of Waco Texas passed away Thursday, September 8, 2016 following a brief illness at the age of 86. Although it was hard to see him go, he loved the Lord and we are confident that he is in a far better place today. Every memory, every moment, we remain thankful for the opportunity to have had him in our lives for as long as we did.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 17th from 9:00 - 10:30am at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco TX. A graveside service will follow at the Granbury Cemetery at 2:00pm.

Sidney worked with Swift Meat Company for 40 years and retired in 1989. Blessed with a servant’s heart, he was a long time member and deacon of Primrose Baptist Church in Waco. He touched many in the community with his selfless caring, compassion, great sense of humor and unconditional love. He volunteered at Providence Memorial hospital for many years where he was able to demonstrate his Christian values to each person he met.

Sidney was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Many of his favorite moments were spent in a deer stand or with a fishing pole in hand where he regularly landed the largest catch. Always amazed by the beauty of the outdoors he was able to travel to some of the most beautiful places on Earth and create meaningful memories. If he was not enjoying the outdoors, he and Betty loved watching the Baylor Bears play, trying to never miss a game. Some type of card game, dominos, dice or old western TV shows typically made it on the daily agenda.

Preceded in death by his parents, Marrice Kenny (Rip) Henson and Oddy Mae Henson of Fort Worth.

Sidney is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Betty Marlow Henson, of Waco; one daughter, Linda Kay Friedholm and her husband David of Carrollton TX; a granddaughter, Amber Leigh Malcolm and husband Todd of Lewisville, TX; and two beautiful great-grandchildren, Kaleigh and Dylan.

Words will never fully express our sorrow here on Earth because we know he is with his heavenly father now, we can honestly use one of his favorite phrases…. “Everything’s lovely.” Many of those who knew him understand the sweet spirit that he had and impressed on each of us. May we pay it forward with that phrase in his memory each day since we are only given a short time on this Earth, choose to see the blessings in your life.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sidney’s name to either of the following: The Michael J Fox Parkinson’s Foundation, Grand Central Station, PO Box 4777, New York, NY 101063-4777, (800)708-7644, or Primrose Baptist Church (building fund), PO Box 488, Waco, TX, 76703(254) 662-2494.
