Obituary for Lucille Amie Wollitz (Van Ornum)

Lucille Wollitz, 99, of Robinson, passed away with her family by her side, on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2016. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Monday, Sept. 26, at St. John United Church of Christ, 100 S. Robinson Dr., Robinson, with Rev. Scott Spence officiating. Burial will follow at Robinson Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM, Sunday, Sept. 25, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr.
Lucille was born in Turton, South Dakota, on June 17, 1917, to William and Meta Van Ornum. She moved to Texas and married H. W. (Hoot) Wollitz on July 31, 1941. They resided their entire married life in Robinson, where they raised five children. They were married for 57 years before his death in 1999. She was an active member of St. John UCC, where she taught Sunday School and was active in the Women’s Guild. She was a charter member of the Tender Loving Quilters, who were very dear to her heart.
In 1982, she retired as the bookkeeper at Robinson ISD. She was a fan of the Texas Rangers and she loved to read, do crossword, jigsaw and Sudoku puzzles, and write poetry and stories. Lucille was famous for her baking skills, and after retirement, she made many beautiful, colorful quilts for each generation of her family. She especially loved to spend time with her 11 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren, who all lovingly called her Monut.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her granddaughter, Jennifer Brown, four sisters and two brothers.
Lucille is survived by her daughters, Pat Brown, JoAnn Brown and husband, Jerry, Kay Luedtke and husband, Stan, Debbie Hendrix and husband, Kenny, and son Kenny Wollitz and wife, Jeanette; grandchildren, Cathy Turner and husband, Ted, Sam Brown and wife, Nicki, Amy Wolf and husband, Geoff, Laura Beth Tolliver and husband, Aaron, Jeremy Hendrix and wife, Kacie, Lisa Monsisvais and husband, Josh, Ross Luedtke, Sarah Luedtke, Melissa Goldberg and husband, Matt, and Michael Wollitz and wife, Sarah; and great-grandchildren Madeline, Kylee, Samantha, Aidan, Cole, Carter, Ryan, Caroline, Jackson, Mckenzie, Sophia, Emma, Mason, Emersyn and Ava. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Roland Wollitz and many nieces, nephews and friends.
